Cal Berkeley
“Cal” is the University of California’s flagship university and is nestled in the city of Berkeley, on 1,232 acres on the eastern shore of the San Francisco Bay. Founded in 1868, this 4 year university is a busy, bold, progressive and non-traditional school. Cal attracts stellar students and faculty and has a long history of academic excellence, innovation and social impact.
I recently toured Cal and I observed: an extraordinary cellist playing in the middle of the walkway, individuals shouting through megaphones (student or homeless person?) and table after table lined up to inform/recruit students regarding every cause, from LGBT to saving sea lions to the Peace Corps. Serious intellectual vibe combined with total inclusiveness makes for first rate people watching.
