WHO WE ARE

Education and opportunity. We believe education and opportunity are the foundation for a good life and every student should have access to both. I built my company on this principle and strive to ensure that every student has the best shot at a solid and valuable education and the opportunities that come with it. The greatest testament to our work is not actually the wonderful schools that our students have worked so hard to attend, but rather the fact that the vast majority of our client families come by way of referral.

As an Independent Educational Consultant, I help students discover something they love and then support them with every resource I have.  It is a blessing and a privilege to be part of the exciting dreams and aspirations of my students. I continually develop my skill set and as a Certified Educational Planner (CEP), have achieved the highest “standard” available in my field. In fact, there are just over 200 CEP's in the United States and only twelve in Colorado.

As an Independent Education Consultant, my job is two-fold. One, to coach the student in finding fantastic fit college options based on a comprehensive list of thoroughly researched choices and two, to assist each student in discovering who they are and then translating their awesome self to a clean, authentic and compelling application. As many of my families have commented, I have a knack for quickly establishing rapport with my students (it helps that I’m not their mom).

OUR MISSION

To guide, coach and advise high school students and families through the college search and application process with expertise, experience and a sense of humor. We emphasize fit over name-brand and create a custom plan of action for each student that drastically reduces the stress students and families experience during this time. The end result is a prepared, happy and well-adjusted student that graduates in 4 years (or less) and ultimately finds wonderful and fulfilling work.

Each year I travel to a variety of college campuses, from the large State Flagship to the small, Liberal Arts school. This affords me the opportunity to roam the campuses, meet admissions and financial aid staff and professors, and truly put myself in the shoes of the students who attend. It is because of these visits, that I am able to bring home to my students, a genuine description and in-depth details about these amazing schools. I typically visit 20-30 schools per year.

Shelly is married to the greatest guy on the planet and they have three adult daughters. Each one had a successful college experience (read: done in 4 years or less) and are now fully off the payroll. YAY!  Shelly enjoys spending time with her husband and girls, and doing anything outdoors; skiing, golf and hiking. She also enjoys reading, travel, cooking, exercising, and attending concerts at Red Rocks.
